OUR HISTORY

Wade Spring have been proudly manufacturing in the UK since the 1920’s. The company was founded by Frisby Wade, the Grandfather of the current company Chairman, Charles Wade.

Beginnings

Wade Spring were the first to manufacture the new patent spring seats on steel bars with a mesh top, which later came to be recognised as “Traditional Seating”. This was a great improvement on the old method of sewing each spring by hand. The success of this product led to it being supplied to furniture manufacturers throughout the country.

Expansion

During the 1970’s the requirement for a more competitive method of seating saw Wade Spring move into Zig Zag and Fishmouth production. The company then progressed into contract seating supplying spring products into major car and rail companies such as Nissan, Toyota and London Underground.

During the 90’s, Wade increased their presence in the market with the acquisition of Elson & Robbins. Wade Spring and Elson & Robbins consolidated on one site in Long Eaton manufacturing Furniture and Mattress springs for customers in the UK and Europe.

Following the sale of the Mattress Spring Division in 2006 Wade Spring moved into their current refurbished 50,000 sq ft manufacturing site on Highfield Street in Long Eaton, Nottingham.
